This week it's another sour (just a couple more to come, along with a couple other surprises!) that I hope you'll try and enjoy: the Chocolate Bourbon Sour.
This is not a dessert drink.
Chocolate in a bourbon sour sounds like it should be a dessert drink. It isn’t. The cacao here works more like a bass note — deep, earthy, and subtle — giving the bourbon extra dimension without adding sweetness or turning things cloying.
What you get instead is a silky, well-balanced sour with bright citrus up front and a warm, quietly rich finish. It’s the kind of cocktail that makes people say, “Wait… chocolate?” and then immediately take another sip. (My wife tried it and immediately took it away from me to finish, telling me to make my own!)
P.S. This will be the last Bourbony email of the year. In January, you can expect a whole new layout and approach to this mailing. Happy Holidays and Happy New Year!
