This Seemed Like a Good Idea: Velvet Abbey

This seemed like a good idea...

I made a new cocktail:
The Velvet Abbey
The Velvet Abbey cocktail is a gin-based sour that combines Chambord, B&B, and lemon juice for a balanced mix of raspberry, herbal, and citrus flavors.

Why I Tried This
Chambord and B&B felt like a risky combination. Too much sweetness, not enough structure. Which made it worth trying. The idea was simple: bring in gin, keep the sugar low, and see if it could be pulled back into something resembling a real cocktail.

How It Turned Out
Better than it has any right to be. The lemon and gin keep everything in check, while the Chambord and B&B show up as soft raspberry and herbal notes instead of taking over. It drinks like a proper sour—bright, balanced, and not remotely heavy.
What I’d Do Next Time
Maybe a few drops of lemon bitters on top for a little extra lift, or a slight bump to the Chambord if I wanted the raspberry to push forward more. But as-is, this one’s in a good place.
Worth repeating? I’ll let you decide.
