What I'm NOT drinking this Christmas... and what I AM drinking!

Are you sick of egg nog?

This is a bit of a misleading question, because I, personally, love eggnog. I'll probably be having some between now and whenever the eggnog runs out.

What I'm not drinking are the same holiday cocktails that everyone loves to post around this time of year. You know the ones -- super-sweet, with candy canes and whatnot in them.

I wanted something a little different, yet still holiday-esque. Holiday-adjacent, if you will.

And then we got a gift box of pears from a relative, and it hit me.

How about rum, pear liqueur, Amaro Nonino, and bitters? A little boozy for the party people; a little sweet for those filled with holiday spirit; a little bitter for those of us who aren't so much the latter; and some cinnamon to tie it all together?

I give you: The Christmas Pear Cocktail!

The Christmas Pear is a festive cocktail that combines the warmth of aged rum with the smooth sweetness of pear liqueur. Amaro Nonino adds a subtle herbal complexity, while Underberg bitters bring a touch of bitterness to balance the flavors. A dash of cinnamon adds a cozy, spiced finish, making it the perfect drink for holiday celebrations.

Give it a sip this holiday season and let me know what you think.

Regardless of whether you celebrate Christmas, Hannukah, Saturnalia, or any of the many other holidays this month, it is my fervent wish that you have a happy, healthy, and prosperous New Year.

Cheers,

Bob Sawyer
